John O. Horkay

State President

John O. Horkay joined Chicago North Lodge #1666 in the 1972-1973 Lodge year.

John transferred to Galena Lodge #882 in 1997 after he retired.

In his Lodges:
John served Chicago North as an officer 19 of his 25 years there,
including Exalted Ruler in 1976-1977. Since joining Galena he served
as Exalted Ruler in 2000-2001 as well terms as Esquire, Leading Knight,
and Secretary.

At the District Level:
John has been Chairman of numerous committees in both the North and
Northwest Districts and was Vice President of the Northwest District
in 2000-2001.

At The IEA Level:
Since 1973 John has missed only 6 IEA Meetings. He was on the Athletic
Commission from 1977-1998 and was the Secretary-Treasurer for 18 of
those years. He served as IEA Antler Chairman and Credentials Chairman.
In 2002-2003 he was IEA Tiler for Past State President Smiley Seibert.

At the Grand Lodge Level:
He has served on the staff of seven District Deputies, primarily as
auditor. He is currently one of the Trustees for the assets of the
Moline Lodge. John was the volunteer manpower Chair for the 1997
Grand Lodge Convention in Chicago and he was the District Deputy for
the Northwest District in 2002-2003. The last two years John has been
your 3rd and 2nd Vice-President.

John and Louise have been married 43 years and have three beautiful
daughters, Jeanette (Rich Havansek), Deborah (Peter Boden), and
Laura, along with seven grandchildren.
